In 2015 a wild river died under a huge mass of water: the Baixo Sabor Dam.

A massive artificial lake was born:

Height of dam upstream – 123 meters
Downstream dam height – 40 meters
Capacity of the reservoir – 1 095 million cubic meters of water
Installed power – 172 MW
